I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes that meaningful therapy begins with creating a comfortable, supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. I want my clients to feel that they can be themselves while exploring the reasons they are seeking therapy and the goals they hope to achieve.
I work best with children, adolescents, and young adults, as much of my professional experience has been focused on supporting these age groups and their families. As a former middle school math teacher and school counselor, I have extensive experience helping adolescents and families navigate trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and challenges within family relationships.
My approach is collaborative and individualized. I begin by learning about each client’s needs, concerns, and goals so we can determine what will be most helpful for their counseling journey. I also believe that the therapeutic relationship is important, and I encourage clients to get to know me so they can feel confident that I am a good fit for their counseling needs.
I utilize a variety of evidence-based treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and family-based approaches.
I have 10 years of experience in the mental health field, along with more than 13 years of experience in education. I have a particular passion for working with adolescents and families and helping them navigate difficult experiences while developing healthier ways to communicate, cope, and connect.
During the initial intake process, I focus on understanding each client’s needs, reasons for seeking therapy, goals, and expectations for counseling. I believe that getting to know the whole person is an important part of creating an effective therapeutic relationship.
I draw from a wide range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Psychoeducational Family Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Psychoanalytic approaches, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Attachment-Based Family Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
